Happy and blessed New Year 2010 to you all!

Posted: 01/03/2010

I was busy taking down Christmas decorations last night. That is a job I always dread as the house feels so drab and dull after the sparkle of the lights, gold and burgundy balls and greenery are removed. I sat and thought about 2009. The year had its fair share of ups and downs and often felt like a roller-coaster ride. But, in the end we learn, survive and yes....even thrive. With each trial or lesson there is an awakening and a new determination that emerges.

Here is wishing for you to have a wonderful and blessed 2010. May you survive, thrive, endure, love, laugh, learn and look back on 2010 as a blessing.

I will be adding speaking to my resume in 2010 as I have been asked to give a number of talks regarding my book, Celiac disease and the importance of forgiving to healing. I taught Diabetes Education for years, so speaking is almost second nature to me.

Isaiah 43:18-19: “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. BEHOLD I DO A NEW THING, NOW it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

I am so pleased to be able to help others

I have been trying to help a reader of my book regarding her digestion issues. If a person has Celiac disease, it is a hit-and-miss to try to find the foods that your body can tolerate, nutrients and supplements that will help your intestines to heal and to gain the correct nutrients for strength and healing. This is a portion of an email I received today from this woman. What a blessing it is for me to see her heal, gain strength and learn what her body needs and requires.

"Thank you so very, very much Miriam for your help and guidance through this maze.... I could NOT Have figured this out without your help.

God bless you throughout the coming year!"   K. in Texas

I could not have asked for a better Christmas present! Miriam

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you

Posted: 12/24/2009

It is Christmas Eve and the lights on the trees are shining like stars in the heavens. The packages are wrapped and the smell of Christmas baking is wafting through the house. My heart is filled with thankfulness for the blessings that I have received.

This has been a tough year for most people with loss of jobs, wealth and devastation from floods here in Georgia. I know we here in the South are not alone in our uncertainty and unsettled feelings regarding our futures.

But, I know that God has a plan when I do not begin to know what to do or how to do it; and in this I always find consolation. He always comes through for me though it may not be in the manner I wish or in the timing I prefer. When I look back on my life, the timing has been perfect.

May you have a blessed Christmas and New Year 2010. Look for the blessings that surround you...the snow, a friend's smile, a shared laugh, the kiss of a child, a good book, music that speaks to your heart, a helping hand given and/or received, to love and to be loved and the freedoms we continue to possess. May you have peace and joy.

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
       And he will be called
       Wonderful Counselor,  Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6

Happy and blessed Thanksgiving

Posted: 11/26/2009

I hope and pray that you all are blessed.

I have been extremely busy as my property suffered damage and loss during the August and September floods here in Georgia. I was blessed in that the water did not encroach on my home and only caused land damage. But, damage is damage and it gave much urgency to repairs.

I am pleased to say many of the repairs are completed and I found some wonderful people to work on the damaged areas.

So, with this all behind me, I can now resume life. I want to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving. Even with loss, stress, disappointment and pain we can always find a blessing. We can offer blessings and help to others who may need it more than we do.

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

A Rose in the Garden

Posted: 06/21/2009

Well, summer is here in the Deep South. The temps are hovering in the mid to high 90’s and I can tell you it is sticky!

I was sitting on my front steps admiring God’s tapestry of flowers, dragonflies, butterflies, chipmonks, (and the occasional mosquito), shrubs, fruit and shade trees. I am a nature buff as I am sure you can surmise from my blog entries.

I had planted a rose bush in a pot so I could move it wherever the sun is shining at the moment. I live in a very wooded area and I have never been able to grow roses here. This year I decided I WAS going to have a rose bush. As I viewed my rose, I noted it is tall and spindly because it is reaching for the heavens and the sun. In the top of the bush is the most gorgeous single red rose. As I viewed my limited success in having a rose in the woods, I was reminded how we all reach for the skies with our hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Even with limited access, funds, education and other set backs, there can be a bloom in our future if we just reach for the heavens.

Like my single breath taking rose…..reach for the Son of God and bloom.

Isaiah 40:31: but those who hope in the LORD
       will renew their strength.
       They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

article regarding my book in the Marietta Daily Journal

From staff reports

MARIETTA - The debut novel of Marietta author Miriam Kelly (her pen name), "A Journey Through Shifting Sands," begins with an attractive man and the promise of happy-ever-after. For Kelly, what began with such promise devolved into a web of deceit and abuse, which she recounts in her novel.

In the book, following a blissful beginning, tension between Kelly and her husband was sparked over issues of money, suspected affairs and divorce, culminating in threats from her husband. The confusion, stress and pain of her marriage and divorce eventually manifested themselves in an immune disorder that shook the peace and calm of Kelly's life. It took a belief in and reconnection with God to bring her back into her own.

Happy Spring to you!

Posted: 04/14/2009

Well, I have been remiss. I cannot believe that I have not written a word since Christmas. Time flies.

I love spring and I am so happy to see the trees and flowers sprouting. It is time for spring planting a season and opportunity that is dear to my heart. It is a time for new beginnings…walking away from the old and beginning the new.

One thing I have found is that often negative and destructive people hang on and on even when a relationship has long been over. I have been experiencing such a problem. If you read my book you will know exactly what I mean. Destructive people attempt to keep their teeth sunk into you by stalking, harassing, threatening and on and on. By such harassment they attempt to pull you down to their level. The only thing you can do is contact the police, write the FBI and the IRS and let them do their work. I have written about making bad choices in our lives and how those decisions tend to follow us long after the relationship is over. Life really is stranger than fiction.

On a different and more pleasant note, more and more independent bookstores are carrying my book. I also had one of the local newspapers show interest in writing a story about my book and me. So, life moves on and joy and peace can be found.

My second book is about half completed. The topic of the book is personality types and emotional and mental disorders that can and usually do turn into abusive individuals. The problem is so many men and women hide their disorders and illness behind bravado and charm. However, there are warning signs and this book will give the reader information of what to observe before taking the jump into the relationship. I believe knowledge is power.

Well, I am off to do some planting and I will see you soon.

"For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things
that are sown in it to
spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness
and praise to
spring forth before all the nations."

Testimonial of a reader in Texas

Posted: 12/28/2008

I received this email today from a reader of my book. I have been sharing information with her for a number of months. She is improving as you can see via her email to me. The email is published with her permission. I am thrilled for her!

Miriam, I cannot thank you enough, or thank God enough, or tell you enough about what is happening with me.  Yesterday I started the second day of doing paperwork I had put off for 10 + years.  Yes, I would get my bills paid, and shove everything else into a box.  I couldn't cope with anything else.  I've got boxes and boxes of paperwork around here I have not been able to deal with!!!! To even file!!!!  I spent hours and hours the first day, and couldn't get back to it until a few weeks later.  Today, I feel a little tired, but still feel as if I can tackle something, whether it be paperwork or whatever!   That is amazing to me!!  You don't know how many days would go by in the past where if I tackled something on a good day, could do nothing for days or weeks afterward!  It is amazing to me to be able to do this.  Yes!  I am beginning to feel much, much better.

Not only are there boxes of paperwork but boxes of other stuff that needs tackling.  My house is a horrid wreck due to years of inability to do much of anything but the basics, feed myself and keep what few dishes I dirtied clean (and even that was a tremendous effort)...it will take a while to get this place whipped back into shape, but thank God I believe now I can!!!!  Praise God!  Eventually I may even be able to attend church again.  (the process of getting ready to go somewhere is enormously daunting right now, but I believe in time will improve.....Thank you again Miriam.

I've been looking over some of the other things you sent me (now that my brain is clear enough to comprehend and possibly retain ....something.....and I've had friends and family who are being helped through the information you are sending me.  You are right, it is incredible how many people this is affecting and infecting.....One of my sisters is suffering from slurred speech, ...I looked back in my notes around 2000, and found that was one of my early symptoms.  I googled it and sent her that and the information you've been sending me.  WOW!  When the Lord opens a door, He swings it wide open!!!!!

I am now up to reading more of the books and looking more at the web-sites you have given me.  It is difficult with a foggy brain to retain anything, but much easier to comprehend once the brain fog begins to lift.  I cannot wait until the fog is GONE!

Again, Miriam, you have been a God-send!  I am recommending your book to anyone and everyone.  Though may I suggest you write one about gluten and candida.....I know there are many out there, however I believe you are the one to put ALL the symptoms in and help so many others .....just a suggestion....

Much love,

~~K.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all!

In the hustle and bustle of the season and especially in now day’s climate, it is easy to forget the reason for Christmas. It appears that we all are having financial woes, fears and feelings of being out of control. All of these types of situations keep us focused on our worldly problems.

The reason for the season is to look beyond our circumstances to the promises made in God’s Word. He is guiding and working behind the scenes even if we do not see or comprehend His actions.

I will be the first to tell you that faith has come hard to me in my lifetime. (When you read my book, you will certainly know that fact.) I am a very proactive and determined personality type. In other words, I want it all done day before yesterday! However, when I stop to think back on my life’s journey, I can see God’s hand in my life and all of His actions have been for my good. Those facts are on what I attempt to focus when the situation appears out of my control.

Take a deep breath, look heavenward and know that God is and has always been. If you love and follow Him, you can always depend upon Him.

Have a wonderful Christmas and may the joy of Jesus Christ be with you always.

James 1:3

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

I John 4:9

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to you all...

Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to you all!!

We have so much for which to be thankful. If we pause and think, search our souls then we realize life is really worth living. We all go through tough times and life can be overwhelming. But, there is always tomorrow and God is on our side to see that we succeed.

I was just in the kitchen preparing a portion of Thanksgiving dinner. Life has been tough financially for me this year. But, when I paused for thought, I realized that I am blessed beyond measure. God has healed my body and I am improving daily. He protected me from a disastrous marriage and I came through it all with greater strength, wisdom and resolve. My finances were devastated due to a three yearlong illness, but healing and a great profession are on the horizon. Just because situations appear dire, does not mean that change and success are not in the wind. Difficult times bring new possibilities.

I encourage you to look up beyond your circumstances and see the big picture. You can succeed and you can be all that you want to be and more.

Mark 9:23

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Proverbs 22:29

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
